Strâmba Monastery

Stramba Monastery - it is said to have been founded in the fifteenth century, in the village Paduris from Salaj county, this is one of the oldest Orthodox monasteries from Transylvania. The monastery has its beginnings in 1470, according to the documenting research of the historian Augustin Bunea and the findings in 1761 of abbot Nichifor.
After ceasing activity for almost 280 years, they decided refoundation in 1993.

Legend says that the name of the monastery comes from a faithful believer that was "crooked and span" and who bequeathed the church site. The church is situated at the bounds of village Paduris, being the only nunnery in Salaj County. The only building of the monastic ensemble that is still preserved today is the wooden church, which is dedicated to the Assumption.
