Starting Point: Sibiu

2. Biertan - UNESCO World Heritage site

     The route from Sibiu to Biertan is a short and scenic journey that takes visitors through the beautiful countryside of Transylvania. Biertan is a charming village known for its fortified church, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Main Attraction:
Biertan Fortified Church: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Biertan Fortified Church is one of the most important Gothic-style Saxon churches in Transylvania. Built in the 15th century, it served as a center of Lutheranism in the region and features a stunning blend of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, with intricate stonework and fortified walls.
Scenic Surroundings: The village of Biertan is surrounded by beautiful countryside and offers a peaceful atmosphere for visitors.

3. Mălâncrav

      A peaceful and historic village, offering a glimpse into Transylvania's past with its beautiful church and serene surroundings.

  • Fortified Church of Mălâncrav: dates back to the 13th century, originally built by the Saxon settlers of Transylvania. It served as both a religious and defensive structure during medieval times. The interior features beautiful frescoes and wooden altars.
     

      Mălâncrav’s fortified church is one of the lesser-known gems in Transylvania, yet it is an important piece of local Saxon heritage and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list of fortified churches of Transylvania    


4. Sighișoara - Medieval Citadel:

      One of the most beautiful and well-preserved medieval towns in Romania, located in the heart of Transylvania. It stands out for its historical charm, colorful buildings, and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

  • The Clock Tower, the symbol of the citadel, with its museum and spectacular views.
  • The birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, also known as Dracula, and learn about his role in history and folklore.

5. Agnita - The Saxon Stronghold

It is a charming destination with a peaceful atmosphere, offering visitors a glimpse into rural Transylvanian life.

6. Return to Sibiu

     After visiting Avrig, you'll head back to Sibiu. The route is scenic, with views of the surrounding landscapes and foothills of the Făgăraș Mountains, you'll return to Sibiu by approximately 7:00 PM.
